Last week, at the last regularly-scheduled Drink 'n' Draw preceding the Emerald City Comicon, we handed out more "blobs" on which for folks to work their interpretative magic. Here's the first half of the haul for the night, more to come tomorrow!

Our annual Emerald City Comicon Drink 'n' Draw was fantastic! Thanks so much to everyone for coming out and joining us. It was great to see so many cheery faces, both new and familiar. What follows are some of the few pics we managed to take (when we put down our pens and glasses for a moment) and a handful of the crazy art that I managed to round up at the end of the evening and scan.

I apologize for the late update to the 'blog. I scanned all our drawings in, and then shrunk them to 6% instead of 60%, which shouldn't be a problem except that I saved over the originals. Yeah, life is hard for your fearless blogger.

Can I just say that the improv-er in me LOVES the positive offers with which Mr Dalton Webb always starts out a jam comic.

Our next Drink n Draw has been set for Friday, January 23rd.

Hopefully we're all recovered from the holidays and are ready to make 2009 a really productive year.

We'll be at our usual haunt, the Old Pequliar in Ballard, starting around 7:30 and running until 10:00 or 11:00 or whenever.

Bring pencils, pens or crayons. Bring a sketchbook if you like; we'll have our usual ream of communal paper. (note to self: buy a new ream of communal paper because we polished off the last one.) Pass the word along to anyone who might be interested.

Our last Drink n' Draw was a soaring success, if I do say so myself. We had about 20 people show up, I think, which would be the best turn-out ever. And I came home with a huge stack of paper to scan. (Which is sort of why I put it off until this last weekend.)

September Drink n' Draw!

Let's get back to it in September, after a much-needed break in August. We're taking a suggestion from our comments (see, we read 'em), and meeting at the Collins Pub around 7:30 on Friday, September 26th. It sounds like a nice place with plenty of room and a good Pioneer Square location. We're movin' up!

July's DnD was a success, if you ask me. Poor lighting and rampant frat-boyishness notwithstanding, we were very productive. To wit:

We are still on the lookout for a regular place to do this. If you know of some pocket universe where sits a pub with big tables, good lighting, and a sound system that entertains while still allowing conversation on a Friday night, speak up! Otherwise we're going to do it at your mom's house, and she is so not going to be cool with that.

The committee has met and we've decided that the next Seattle Drink n' Draw will take place on Friday, July 18th. This is, I think you ought to know, my birthday. It is also only days after Jon's birthday. So we'll certainly expect drawings of cakes. Maybe I'll even bring real, actual, no-joke cake. I dunno.

Now we need to find a venue that is more artist-friendly and less amateur-DJ-friendly or crappy-bartender-friendly. So let's open the floor to suggestions. Anyone know of a keen bar with plenty of table space and whose audio system provides ample entertainment while still allowing human conversation?

Ideas! Go!

Last Friday's Drink-n-Draw event at the Irish Emigrant was fantastic, despite the stifling heat that settled on Seattle this weekend. Adam and I are currently setting plans for the next event, which will take place in the middle of July (wish me a happy birthday, everyone .... OR ELSE).

The Mighty Adam is reportedly off fighting Sleestak in the Phantom Zone right now, and can't break away to update us on the next Drink-N-Draw event here in Seattle, LEST THE WORLD FALL INTO CHAOS. I, however, am watching Star Trek OST reruns online and playing Minesweeper, so I guess I have time to post about it. Sheesh. I have to do ALL the HARD work around here.

Last Friday's Drink And Draw Event at Shorty's was great, we had a huge turnout and a lot of friendly faces bobbing around. I think it's likely that we'll do another one in June, so let me hear from you if you're interested, and if you have suggestions for date and venue (Shorty's was a cool place, but it's dark and loud, we may aim for more mellow next time around).
